[Update] November 22, 2016

Well, well, well,
I cannot believe that I have not updated in two years! Lots has happened, of course….many goodbyes, several new hellos to girlfriends of sons and a growing grandson…..a whole different job working with adults (for the first time!!!).....heartbreaks and triumphs…..including a newly baptized adult son (best thing EVER!!). Please catch-up with some columns if you have the time…
God be with you, always,

[Update] December 20, 2014

I regret that I have been so negligent regarding my website. Our life is so busy right now ( as is everyone’s). But with few remaining years of our kids at home, I am avoiding cluttering up time with work; even with work I love. I hate to be unpresent for the bickering and foolishness and love and craziness…..I fear being unavailable by getting caught up in my own stuff, my own ego. I am easily drawn in by myself. So, here are some columns…..hope you like them.
Have a Blessed, Holy, Happy Christmas and New Year!

[Update] May 3, 2014

I haven't added anything here in ages!!!!! (oops, my son says that I use too many exclamation points!!!!) Anyway, here are some recent columns from the Press Republican. Hope you enjoy.

God bless.

[Update] December 5, 2013

Hi, I hope the holiday season finds you well. I love this time of year. I just wanted to let you know that Getting Home is now available in print as well as Kindle format. Jake the Story will be available in print for
Christmas. I am just having some difficulty getting the colors just right. I hope everyone has a beautiful Christmas and a blessed New Year.

[Update] September 4, 2013

Hello there,

I haven't posted in a really long time!!!! I wanted you to know that I have finally (finally!) self-published my first novel, Getting Home, through Amazon's Kindle Store. The link is posted under the "Books" heading at the top of this page. For right now, I don't have a print option but I am working on that.

If you decide to read Getting Home, I would LOVE to know what you think! Thank you and God bless!

[Update] April 5, 2013

Hi. It has been a while. My son just added some more columns to the website (what would I do without him?????) Hope all is well in your world. I have a new email if you’d like to contact me. God bless.

[Update] December 6, 2012

Hi. I haven’t put anything new on my website in a long time. So, for now, I have added some-new-to-my-website columns (The Press Republican
has already run them, but they haven’t been posted here). And, I have also added something new to the book section. My son, Jack, and I have written a children’s book that we’ve self-published for Amazon Kindle. Working with my son was an amazing and frustrating process. I love the
way he draws and makes his scenes and characters come alive with quirky and real emotion. I am certain that I drove him nuts during this
process; he certainly tested my patience!!! But, sharing this project with him has been one of the best experiences of my life. I hope you will take
a look at it.

Hi, my name is Mary White. I've worked with kids for as long as I can remember...even when I was little, I loved helping my mother with her
foster babies. As

an adult, I really had no marketable talent other than working with kids, being around kids....so that's what I did...first as a caseworker for teenagers, then as a caseworker for families, then as a tutor in migrant kids' homes, then as a drug/alcohol prevention counselor in the schools. And throughout all that, I had my own kids, my very own kids with my very own husband. Over time, I realized that I had stories to tell, lessons to share...not ones that I had created, but ones that I

had absorbed from all the creatures surrounding me. So, I began to write and write and write. Suddenly, I couldn't shut up; stories and feelinigs came pouring

out. And, I knew that, while kids remained my passion, I had to find a way to share this view that I am allowed each and every day. I'd like to pretend that my words come from some wise place inside me, but very often I didn't even know that I had these thoughts until I put pen to paper. Sometimes I don't even remember writing what I have written. Very often, I read my words as if some stranger had composed them. So, if you
find anything of value in what I have to say, know that it probably has little to do with me.
